NEW!! Students Nominated for Phi Beta Kappa 2009

Important Information for New Members

Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest and most prestigious national honors society. Only the most outstanding undergraduates at America's leading colleges and universities who meet the Society's rigorous and comprehensive standards are elected to membership each year. It is one of the highest academic honors that undergraduate students can achieve and recognizes academic achievement in the liberal arts and sciences.

At UC Irvine, approximately 5% of the graduating seniors and 1% of the juniors are invited to join Phi Beta Kappa each year. Only those students who meet the rigorous academic standards met by the Chapter are invited to join. Consideration is given to the breadth and variety of courses taken in the liberal arts and sciences, especially those taken outside the student's major and beyond the normal general education requirements of the campus. Additional information on membership can be found on this Web site.

This year's Initiation Ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 P.M in the Pacific Ballroom of the Student Center. The ceremony will be followed by a reception. Friends and family members of new initiates and other members of Phi Beta Kappa are welcome to attend.
